Canton Flags in Color My Flag

Get the Union Flag knot right, then the fly stars — the round that ends streaks after an easy Japan.

Canton Flags

A canton is the rectangle in the upper hoist. In Color My Flag the deadly family is the Union Flag sitting on a blue (or light blue) field with extra stars or a badge in the fly. Players who just survived Japan then freehand a red-white-blue scribble and call it the United Kingdom. The scoreboard disagrees. This page is the how-to. Stripe twins stay on similar flags. The United States star field has its own page: stars and stripes.

What a canton round is asking

You must paint two pictures:

  1. The Union Flag (or another canton) at the correct size.
  2. The rest of the flag — usually a blue field plus stars, or a badge.

If you nail the stars and butcher the canton, you still lose. If you nail the canton and dump a yellow star where a white one belongs, you still lose. Sequence beats talent.

United Kingdom first

The Union Flag is red, white, and blue only. No green, no gold “to pop the saltire.”

  • Blue field.
  • White saltire (diagonal) of Saint Andrew, fimbriated.
  • Red saltire of Saint Patrick, offset, not centered on the white.
  • White-fimbriated red cross of Saint George on top.

You do not need the heraldry names in chat. You need the layers. Block blue, lay the big white diagonals, add the red diagonals thinner and offset, then the upright red cross with a white edge. Controls matter here more than on Germany: a fat brush turns the knot into a purple bruise.

If the timer is cruel, a recognizable red-white-blue knot with the upright cross on top still beats a three-color smear. Perfectionism that introduces a fourth hue is how accuracy tips start.

Australia versus New Zealand

Both put a Union Flag in the canton on a blue field. Both add stars in the fly. They are not interchangeable.

  • Australia: larger seven-point Commonwealth star under the canton, plus the Southern Cross in the fly (five stars, usually white, one smaller).
  • New Zealand: four red stars with white borders, no large extra star under the canton.

Paint the Union Flag canton first, then the field, then stars. If you place Australia’s extra star on New Zealand, you painted the wrong country. That is a similar flags miss with extra steps. Cook Islands and Niue also borrow the Union Flag; copy the template’s fly instead of inventing stars from memory.

Fiji, Tuvalu, and the light-blue family

Fiji and Tuvalu use a lighter blue field than Australia. If you grab navy because “British canton,” the field scores as wrong even with a perfect knot. Fiji’s fly badge is a shield — treat it like a mini hard flag after the field is clean. Tuvalu’s fly is nine yellow stars; they are not Australia’s white Southern Cross.

Hawaii (if the template appears) is a Union Flag canton on alternating white-red-blue stripes. It is not Australia. Count the stripes before you place stars that do not exist.

Paint order for any Union Flag canton

  1. Name the country. Say whether the field is navy or light blue.
  2. Block the field color on the whole flag.
  3. Cut the canton rectangle. Fill it with the Union Flag layers — blue, white diagonals, red diagonals, red cross.
  4. Place fly charges (stars or badge) in the remaining space.
  5. Stop. Do not outline stars in gold.

This is the same “fields first” rule as how to win. A remaining streak is worth more than a heroic badge you smeared at 0:03.

Practice without burning Cash

Warm up on France or the United Kingdom if the queue gives you a pure Union Flag. Then take Australia only when the knot is stable. After a miss, write whether it was field hue, canton size, or wrong star set. Field hue goes to the flag color chart. Canton size is a control problem. Wrong star set is a lookalike problem — Australia versus New Zealand belongs on your similar-flags list as much as Poland versus Indonesia.

Passes on gamepasses do not draw saltires. Codes do not either. IQ will not highlight the offset red diagonal. Other Roblox flag games (Click the Flag, Find the Flags, Paint Flags) teach naming or scavenging, not this brush order. Stay in Color My Flag and paint the knot slowly.

When the template is only the United Kingdom, this page is enough. When the template is Australia with a rushed timer, skip the badge-level detail on the stars and keep the four/five count in the right color. That is how canton rounds stop ending a streak that started on Japan.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Color My Flag coloring duels.

How do I tell Australia from New Zealand in Color My Flag?

Australia has a large extra star under the canton and white Southern Cross stars. New Zealand uses four red stars with white edges and no large extra star.

Should I paint the Union Flag or the stars first?

Union Flag canton first, then fly stars. A correct knot with missing stars beats a perfect Southern Cross on a ruined canton.

Why is Fiji’s blue wrong even when my canton looks fine?

Fiji and Tuvalu use a lighter blue than Australia. Navy from the United Kingdom template will miss.

Is the United States a canton flag too?

Yes, but it is a star field on blue over stripes, not a Union Flag. Use the United States guide for that round.
